The police have been granted permission to detain Ishara Sewwandi, a prime suspect in the murder of organized crime gang member Ganemulla Sanjeewa, and others for 90 days for questioning.

The group was arrested by the police after a special operation recently while they were in Nepal.

In addition to Ishara Sewwandi, Jaffna Suresh, J. K. Bai, and Kehelbaddara Padme's criminal network, Gampaha Baba, Nugegoda Babi, and Takshi were also arrested.
