In celebration of International Fact-Checking Day today, April 2, Journo Tips! is launching a new training initiative focused on fact-checking and open-source intelligence (OSINT) to empower Sri Lankan journalists in the fight against misinformation.
This initiative reinforces the global commitment to truth and accuracy, equipping media professionals with essential skills to verify information and uphold ethical journalism in an increasingly digital world.
The Fact-Checking & OSINT Training Series will be led by Dheeshma Puzhakkal, a renowned fact-checker and media literacy trainer from India.
Puzhakkal is the editor of the fact-check team at NewsMeter, an IFCN signatory organization, and an expert in OSINT, AI-driven misinformation detection, and deepfake analysis.
Her team operates across five South Indian states, combating the spread of misinformation through meticulous fact-checking efforts.
The training sessions will be held online on April 2, 9, and 12, from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM (IST). Jou alists, media professionals, and communicators interested in joining the series can register and learn more about the program by visiting www.tinyurl.com/JournoTips.
