The Criminal Investigation Department informed the Fort Magistrate's Court yesterday (27) that it has initiated an investigation against former Parliamentarian Udaya Gammanpila.

This is in connection with statements made during a press conference held on August 5, 2025, that would cause discord between races.

The department stated in its statement to the court that this investigation is being conducted based on a complaint received on August 8.

Accordingly, it is reported that this investigation is being conducted under the Inte ational Covenant on Civil and Political Rights Act and the Penal Code.
