The Consumer Affairs Authority says that it has raided 105 shops that sold rice above the control price in the last two weeks.
The authority stated that it has also taken steps to file cases against shops that sold rice at higher prices.
If a sole proprietorship sells rice at higher prices, if found guilty, he can be fined from Rs. 100,000 to Rs. 500,000 or imprisoned for 5 months, or both, the Consumer Affairs Authority further stated.
