Former Charles Manson follower Leslie Van Houten has been released from prison after 53 years, the Califo ia Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation says.

According to her lawyer, Van Houten is now adjusting to normal life.

Califo ia Gove or Gavin Newsom announced Van Houten's release last week.

According to it, she will have the rights of an ordinary citizen.
