Environment Minister Dr. Dammika Patabendige stated that steps will be taken to designate 08 mangrove forests as reserves through the Gazette on the World Mangrove Day, which falls on the 26th.

This was stated while participating in a special media briefing held at the Information Department today (21).

The minister further stated that the Ministry of Environment, the Biodiversity Division of the Ministry of Environment, the Department of Forest Conservation, and the Department of Wildlife Conservation have jointly organized a program to protect these mangroves.
