What the Justice Minister said about Ranjan's releasing day



Justice Minister Dr. Wijedasa Rajapaksa says that Mr. Ranjan Ramanayake, who is in prison for contempt of court, will be pardoned by the President today. 

 
He mentioned that he has forwarded the recommendations related to the President's pardon to the President. 
 
Meanwhile, Mr. Ranjan Ramanayake, who is in prison, is expected to be released today or on Monday 29th, Minister of Tourism and Lands Mr. Harin Fe ando announced yesterday in a message on social media. 
 
Mr. Harin Fe ando says that he and a number of other parties had requested President Ranil Wickramasinghe to release Mr. Ranjan Ramanayake, who is guilty of contempt of court. 
 
Meanwhile, Mr. Ranjan Ramanayake, who is in prison, submitted an affidavit and apologized to the court. 
 
He has stated that the statements made by you are false and that those statements are retracted. 
 
Mr. Ranjan Ranjanramanayake was sentenced to four years of hard labor on January 12 last year for a statement he made outside Araliagaha Mandir on August 21, 2017.
