Major General (Retd) Nalinda Niyangoda assumed office today (28) as the new Chief of the National Intelligence Service.

This follows the retirement of Major General Ruwan Wanigasuriya, who was the Chief of National Intelligence, from his post yesterday (27).

Major General (Retd) Nalinda Niyangoda has received his appointment letter from the Secretary of Defense, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuiyakontha (Retd).

The Ministry of Defense issued a statement stating that he retired due to his completion of 60 years of age.
