The National Road Safety Council says that there has been an increase in road accidents this year compared to last year.

Its chairman, Manjula Kularatne, stated that reckless driving, excessive speed, and road defects have contributed to this situation.

The National Road Safety Council also points out that between 6,000 and 8,000 people are disabled due to road accidents every year.
