The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) announced that public hearings to gather opinions on electricity tariff revisions will begin on the 27th of this month in Kandy.
These hearings will focus on two proposals: one submitted by the Electricity Board, which recommends no tariff revisions for the next six months, and a counter-proposal by the PUCSL suggesting a potential reduction in electricity tariffs by 10 to 20 percent.
The process of obtaining written public opinions began on the 17th. The public hearings aim to ensure broader engagement on the proposed revisions.
Jayanath Herath, Director of the Communications Division at PUCSL, stated that a final report, incorporating both verbal and written feedback, will be submitted on January 17th.
