Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez announced that his country formally recognized Palestine as a state yesterday.

'The only route towards establishing peace is the establishment of a Palestinian state, living side by side with the state of Israel.

It is a matter of historical justice' Sanchez said further in his speech.

Meanwhile, Norway’s recognition of Palestine as a state has also taken effect, while Ireland also followed suit.
