With the ongoing rain, 03 spillways of the Polgolla Mahaweli Dam have been opened today (28) by 18 inches each.

The Polgolla Mahaweli Dam Engineering Office stated that the spillway gates were opened in this manner to control the possible flood situation.

As a result, it is reported that a water capacity of 4,500 cubic feet per second will be released into the Victoria Reservoir.
