A prison jailer has been arrested for allegedly aiding and abetting a woman to provide drugs and mobile phones to an inmate held in the Kalutara Prison.

This was done by the Kalutara North Police.

The police stated that the person arrested is a 53-year-old jailer from Waskaduwa.

A woman from Hirana, Panadura, was arrested the other day while preparing to provide ice, heroin, and a mobile phone to an inmate at the Kalutara Prison.

The police stated that during questioning of the woman, it was revealed that the suspected jailer had received Rs. 35,000.
