Dr. Ananda Wijewickrama says that there is a high risk of dengue epidemic in the country in June.
The doctor said that with the monsoons, more dengue cases are reported annually in June and July, and when more cases begin to be reported in April this year, a high epidemic situation occurs.
He said that in previous years, the number of patients reported in April was limited.
He mentioned that Dengue is the third type of virus that will be spread in these days and it is seen spreading more among the people.
He also said that if symptoms such as fever, headache and body pain persist, it is suspected to be dengue and should be treated by a qualified doctor.
He emphasized that especially if the fever lasts for more than two days, dengue should be suspected and no pain reliever should be taken other than paracetamol.
The doctor added that if the surrounding environment where he lives is kept clean so that mosquitoes cannot breed, the number of dengue infected people can be reduced.
The risk of dengue continues to rise and experts have discovered that most cases are reported these days from dengue 2 and 3.
Among them, the Ministry of Health revealed that the cases of dengue 3 variant are reported after 14 years.
