The transport sector has announced several additional bus and train services to accommodate increased travel demands during the festive season.
The Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) will launch a special bus service starting tomorrow (24), with 50 additional buses operating daily until the end of the season. Deputy General Manager Panduka Swa ahansa stated that depot managers have been instructed to deploy more buses as needed.
The number of buses on the expressway has also been increased, with special services on Mondays of the last week to bring retu ing travelers back to Colombo.
The Railway Department has also introduced special train services. According to Deputy General Manager (Traffic) N.J. Indipolage, a special train will run to Badulla on the night of December 27 and retu to Colombo Fort on the mo ing of December 28.
Additional services include a special train from Badulla to Colombo Fort on December 29 and intercity express trains to Jaffna, with extra carriages added to the Yal Devi Express.
