The Colombo Magistrate's Court has ordered the release of former Senior Superintendent of Police Satish Gamage, who was arrested and remanded on corruption charges by the Bribery Commission, on bail.
It is reported that Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanka S. Bodaragama issued this order after considering the arguments presented by the Bribery Commission officials and the suspect's lawyers.
Accordingly, the Magistrate has ordered the suspect to be released on a cash bail of one hundred thousand rupees and two physical bails of two hundred thousand rupees each.
It is reported that the magistrate has also ordered the suspect to be banned from traveling abroad.
It has also been ordered that the case be taken up on January 6th.
