State Minister Shehan Semasinghe has been appointed as Acting Finance Minister.
It is reported that this appointment has been made to fulfill the duties of the Finance Minister during that period due to President Ranil Wickremesinghe going abroad for an official visit.
The President had officially given the credentials to the Minister of State yesterday (03).
This appointment has been made in accordance with the powers assigned to the Honorable President by Article 50 of the Constitution.
Accordingly, State Minister Shehan Semasinghe will be overseeing the work of the Minister of Finance, Economic Stabilization and National Policy, effective from today (04), until he arrives in the island after the President's foreign visit.
