Sri Lanka's average coconut prices fell for the third straight week, dropping from 99,959.25 to 99,684.19 rupees per 1,000 nuts at the weekly auction held on November 13, according to the Coconut Development Authority (CDA).
This marks a continued decline from the record high of 105,000 rupees on October 24. At the November 13 auction, 284,870 coconuts were offered, with 231,221 sold. Prices ranged from 95,000 to 100,000 rupees per 1,000 nuts.
Wholesale prices for large nuts were 140-150 rupees each, while small nuts sold for 110-120 rupees. Farmgate prices in Kurunegala hovered between 100,000 and 110,000 rupees per 1,000 nuts.
Meanwhile, local wholesale prices for coconut oil ranged from 750,000 to 770,000 rupees per metric ton, and coconut shells were priced at 40,000 to 42,000 rupees per metric ton.
