'Although there are 10 lakh people who can pay income tax in this country, only 5 lakh people pay taxes, so in order to reduce indirect taxes and increase the direct tax rate, it is necessary to bring the 5 lakh people who have failed to pay these taxes into the tax net' State Minister for Finance Mr. Ranjith Siyambalapitiya says.

The minister also mentioned that a tax payer is a strong citizen who has achieved stability in a country and it is recognized in developed countries that the people of this country will also help in the development of the country by making such a change in attitude.

The State Minister further stated that there are preparations to start the implementation of the TIN number from the first of February.
