Thawee Samaraweera, who became the highest-ranked Sri Lankan in the world table tennis rankings, returned to the island yesterday afternoon (16) after completing his European tour.
It is reported that due to his exceptional performances in the relevant tournament, he is currently ranked 3rd in the world in the under-11 age group in the inte ational table tennis rankings.
He has won the gold medal at the World Junior Table Tennis Championship held in Italy.
It is reported that he has since won bronze medals at 02 table tennis tournaments held in Slovakia and Hungary.
Thawi has been able to reach the third place in the world rankings after defeating the world champion Polish player in Hungary.
