Sri Lanka’s Meteorological Department website is in the process of restoration following a cyber attack that disrupted its services early last week.
The Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team (SL CERT), responsible for national cybersecurity, is overseeing the response and recovery.
SL CERT’s Senior Information Officer, Charuka Damunopola, confirmed the incident was reported on November 1. Damunopola stated, “Due to this cyber attack, changes were detected on the Meteorological Department’s official website. Preliminary investigations are underway, with further inquiries ongoing to assess the full impact.”
While no data appears to have been accessed or stolen, SL CERT is closely monitoring the situation to ensure full functionality and security are restored to the website.
