Colombo Additional Magistrate Manjula Ratnayake today (26) issued a warrant for Jaffna District Independent MP Dr. Archuna Ramanathan through the Jaffna Senior Superintendent of Police.

The warrant relates to a 2021 incident on Baseline Road, where the MP was accused of causing a road accident and assaulting a person.

Dr. Archuna recently gained attention during the new Parliament's first session on November 21, refusing to vacate the Opposition Leader's seat and livestreaming the incident on Facebook.

However, he expressed regret for his actions during a program held at the Parliament complex yesterday (25).
