The convener of the Inter-University Student Council, Wasantha Mudalige, has been arrested by the police.

It was during a protest held in front of Kelaniya University last night.
 
He was arrested under the charge of obstructing the police.

The protest was organized against the suppression of students and the actions of the gove ment.
 
Meanwhile, the police said that 8 people, including Inter-University Student Council convenor Wasantha Mudalige, who were arrested during a protest held last night near Kelaniya University, will be produced in the Mahara Magistrate's Court today.
