The Department of Meteorology has issued a statement saying that the current rainy weather condition is expected to further develop today.

The announcement also states that rain or thundershowers will occur in many parts of the island after 1.00 pm.

Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva and North Central Provinces, Puttalam and Mannaram districts may experience heavy rains of more than 100 mm in some places.

Some places in the rest of the areas may experience heavy rains of more than 50 mm.

In the Easte Province and in Jaffna and Mullaitivu districts, rain may also occur in the mo ing.

Some places in Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces may experience foggy conditions in the mo ing.

People are kindly requested to take necessary measures to reduce the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
