Mr. Susil Premajayantha, the Minister of Education, made a special statement regarding making it mandatory for 80 percent of the students appearing as school applicants for the A/L examination to complete the exam.

Accordingly, the Minister made a special statement in the Parliament and said that the Ministry of Education was instructed to consider the percentage of attendance to be 40 percent for this year only.
