Today (26) is National Safety Day.

Accordingly, the main commemoration ceremony is scheduled to be held in the mo ing at the ''Paraliya Tsunami Memorial'' in Galle.

A two-minute silence will be held from 9:25 to 9:27 a.m. across the island to honor tsunami and other disaster victims.

It is said that more than 35,000 people died in the tsunami disaster in 2004 and more than 5,000 people are missing.
