Since January 1st of this year, 10,886 dengue patients have been reported across Sri Lanka.
It is reported that this is a 43.4% decrease when compared to the same period in 2024.
However, health officials stressed that there is a risk of an increase in dengue patients being reported in the coming days due to the intermittent rains these days.
Accordingly, the National Dengue Control Unit has planned to conduct a special field program for dengue control based on existing data to control the spread of dengue.
It is reported that this program will be conducted in 37 high-risk health medical officer divisions centered on the districts of Gampaha, Kalutara, Matara, Matale, Batticaloa, Ratnapura, and Trincomalee, including the Colombo metropolitan area.
The program is scheduled to be held on March 27, 28, and 29.
