The Ministry of Public Security says that it expects to deploy 500 newly recruited police Special Task Force (STF) members to combat organized crime and other illegal activities.

Public Security Minister Ananda Wijepala stated that the new members will complete their courses very soon and report for duty.

Meanwhile, 04 police teams have been deployed to control shooting incidents in the Southe Province.

It is also reported that 02 special police teams have been deployed to the Ambalangoda area to combat organized crime.
