The Department of Meteorology says that occasional rain or thundershowers will occur in Weste and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Galle and Matara districts.

Apart from this, some places in Sabaragamuwa province and Galle, Matara, Colombo and Kalutara districts may experience heavy rains of more than 50mm.

Also, there will be several rainy seasons in the North-West Province and Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts.

It is said that in Uva province and Ampara and Batticaloa districts there will be scattered rain or thundershowers in the evening or at night.

In the weste slopes of the central hills, in the northe and north-central provinces and in the districts of Hambantota, Puttalam and Trincomalee, gusty winds of 50 km/h are expected.

The Department of Meteorology further stated that necessary measures should be taken to reduce the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
