The Canadian gove ment has planned to ease sanctions on Syria as the interim gove ment in Damascus seeks inte ational support.

Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly said yesterday (12) that Ottawa would provide 84 million Canadian dollars ($59 million) in new funds for humanitarian assistance.

She added that it would also allow funds to be sent through certain banks, such as the Central Bank of Syria.
