A stock of wheat flour unfit for human consumption that was prepared for release to the market has been found.
It is reported that it was in a warehouse in Uswetakeiyawa, Wattala.
The Consumer Affairs Authority says that the relevant stock of wheat flour was found based on information uncovered during a raid conducted in the Pettah area.
It is reported that 750 tons of wheat flour unfit for human consumption that was prepared for release to the market was found in the warehouse.
The manufacturing date of the flour in question was stated as March and May last year, and the expiry date was stated as March and May this year, and they have been severely infested with insects.
Accordingly, it is reported that the relevant stock of goods has been taken into the custody of Consumer Affairs Authority officers, and further investigations are being conducted.
