The Parliament has approved the proposal to establish 7 sectoral oversight committees for the 10th Parliament of Sri Lanka.
The relevant proposal was presented to Parliament yesterday (17) by Leader of the House Minister Bimal Ratnayake.
It is reported that there has been an agreement to have the chairmanship of 4 of the committees go to the gove ment and the chairmanship of 3 to the opposition.
Accordingly, the chairmanship of the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Economic Development and Inte ational Relations, the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Health, Media, and Women's Empowerment, the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Science, Technology, and Digital Transformation, and the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Gove ance, Justice, and Civil Protection has been assigned to the gove ment.
Meanwhile, it is reported that approval has been received to transfer the chairmanship of the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Infrastructure and Strategic Development, the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Education, Manpower and Human Capital, and the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Environment, Agriculture, and Resource Sustainability to the opposition.
