Canada bans Facebook, Instagram and Google



Canadian Minister Pablo Rodríguez announced that the Canadian gove ment will stop buying ads on the Meta platforms Facebook and Instagram.

That is after the adoption of the Online News Act or Bill C-18.

It is reported that companies such as Meta and Alphabet (Google) are obliged to make payments to online news publishers by that act.

In response, Meta and Alphabet have said they will be removing Canada's ability to get news through their social media platforms.
