The Meteorological Department states that favorable atmospheric conditions have developed for thundershowers in many parts of the island in the evening.

The department stated that heavy rain exceeding 100 mm or thundershowers may occur in many parts of the island after 1.00 pm today (18).

The Meteorological Department further stated that moderate to strong winds of about 30–40 kmph are possible at times on the weste slopes of the Central Highlands, the Northe , North-Central, North-Weste , and Central provinces, and the Trincomalee and Hambantota districts.
