The Department of Meteorology has issued an announcement saying that the current rain situation in the island is expected to continue.
It is due to the influence of the Intertropical Convergence Zone (the zone where the winds coming from the Northe Hemisphere and the Southe Hemisphere converge).
The announcement states that rain or thundershowers will occur from time to time in many parts of the island.
Some places in Weste , Sabaragamuwa, South, Central and Uva provinces may experience heavy rains of more than 100 mm.
People are kindly requested to take necessary measures to minimize the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may accompany thunderstorms.
