The Department of Meteorology states that favorable atmospheric conditions are developing for thunderstorms in the Northe , North-Central, Easte , and Uva provinces in the evening over the next few days.

The Department stated that heavy showers exceeding 100 millimeters may occur in the Weste , Northweste , and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Nuwara Eliya, Kandy, Galle, and Matara districts after 1.00 pm today (09).

The statement also states that showers or thunderstorms may occur in several places in the Uva province and the Ampara and Batticaloa districts.

Accordingly, the Department of Meteorology has informed the public to take necessary measures to minimize the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
