President Anura Kumara Dissanayake announced that steps will be taken to reduce the insurance coverage provided to MPs of Rs. 1 million.

He said that the insurance coverage will be reduced to Rs. 2.5 million.

The president further stated that it will be implemented next August.

He also stated that the Presidential Privileges Amendment Bill and the MPs' Pension Abolition Bill will be brought to Parliament promptly.
