The Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils, and Local Government says that steps will be taken to install fingerprint machines in every government institution.

Minister Dr. Chandana Abeyratne stated that fingerprint machines have already been installed in several government institutions, including Divisional Secretariats.

The main objective of this is to regularize the arrival and departure of employees.

The minister further stated that another objective is to minimize irregularities in reporting for work.
