The Financial Crimes Unit of India has arrested the former Chief Minister of Jharkhand State, Hemant Soren.
It was hours after he resigned as the chief minister of Jharkhand state.
Hemant Soren of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) party has been accused of financial crime and corruption, and foreign media reports that he denies the allegations.
It is said that Hemant Soren was arrested yesterday (31) after seven hours of questioning.
The JMM Party has nominated Transport Minister Champai Soren as the next Chief Minister of the state.
However, Champai Soren has challenged the arrest of the former Chief Minister of Jharkhand State in the Supreme Court of India stating that it is a political conspiracy.
Accordingly, the foreign media further reports that the case is scheduled to be heard tomorrow (02).
