Police say that political parties and organizations have organized May Day demonstrations and meetings in several areas of the island, including Colombo, due to Labor Day.

Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the Weste Province Traffic Division, W. P. J. Senadheera, stated that steps have been taken to deploy special police security to cover the May Day celebrations.
