A major border crossing between Iraq and Syria has reopened after more than a decade.
Foreign media reported that the route could be used as an alte ative to the Strait of Hormuz, which has been the center of the Iran-Iraq war and is currently in a very problematic situation.
Nadia al-Jubouri, a member of the Nineveh Provincial Council in Iraq, announced at the inauguration ceremony on Monday that the massive gateway will be opened for trade and oil transportation.
