Mumbai won the toss and elected to bat first in this crucial match which started at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
As usual, Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma came out to bat as Mumbai openers.
Accordingly, the Mumbai Indians team scored 182 runs by losing 8 wickets at the end of 20 overs.
Cameron Green scored 41 runs and Suryakumar Yadav scored 33 runs each.
The Lucknow Super Giants who entered the field to play the reply innings scored only 101 runs in 16 overs and 3 balls.
Marcus Stoinis scored 40 runs for Lucknow.
Thus, the Mumbai Indians team got the opportunity to stay in the tou ament.
