New Process for Sri Lankans Abroad to Obtain Vital Documents



In a move to assist Sri Lankans living overseas, the gove ment will begin issuing birth, marriage, and death certificates through selected foreign embassies.

According to the Presidential Media Division, this pilot project will initially operate in seven locations: the embassies in Kuwait, Japan, Qatar, Melbou e, Toronto, Milan, and the Consulate General in Dubai.

This service will utilize the e-BMD data system managed by the Registrar General's Department and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, facilitating easier access to these vital documents for Sri Lankans abroad.
