Professor I. M. Karunathilaka has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of the University of Colombo.

This was by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

It is reported that the relevant appointment letter was handed over to Professor I.M. Karunathilaka by the Secretary to the President, Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, at the Presidential Secretariat today (23).

He has the distinction of being the first professor of medical education at the University of Colombo.

He has served on the faculty of the University of Colombo since June 2000 and is a graduate of the University of Colombo and Dundee, Scotland, United Kingdom.
