The Excise Department has issued a notice regarding the closure of liquor shops during the Sinhala and Tamil New Year in April.

It states that all liquor shops licensed for the retail sale of liquor throughout the island should be closed on April 13 and 14.

On those days, only foreign tourists staying in hotels with an R.B. 7 hotel license approved by the Sri Lanka Tourism Board will be able to sell alcohol.
