In response to the escalating global measles threat, Sri Lanka’s Health Promotion Bureau issues a critical announcement targeting parents and guardians of infants bo between April 7, 2023, and July 5, 2023.

The urgency is particularly emphasized in high-risk districts, namely Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Galle, Matara, Kandy, Jaffna, Kurunegala, and Kalmunai.

Children aged 6 months to 9 months by January 6, 2024, are eligible for an additional measles vaccine dose.

This measure aims to fortify immunity against the highly contagious disease within the identified at-risk regions. Parents are urged to visit nearby vaccination centers on January 6, 2024, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm to ensure their infants receive this supplemental dose.
