The Digital Economy Ministry says that a pilot project to allow passengers travelling on buses to pay via bank cards will be launched on November 24th.
Advisor to the Ministry Sumudu Ratnayake stated that the project is scheduled to begin at the Makumbura Multimodal Transport Center.
Under the first phase, 20 routes, including 03 major inter-provincial routes, will be covered, and passengers travelling on buses up to Galle, Matara, and Badulla will be able to pay via cards.
The Digital Economy Ministry further stated that this is planned to be implemented nationwide in the future.
