India and Japan are considering investing $1.7 million in a project to construct an aerospace pad in a selected area in the Hambantota district.
It is reported that if these projects are successful, about 4,000 Sri Lankans will get new job opportunities, and Japan has expressed interest in this project.
A Japanese delegation has also arrived in Sri Lanka to investigate the relevant qualifications, and plans are underway to establish a space rocket launch facility called 'Astro Lab' affiliated with the Japanese gove ment in the country.
