A police constable was arrested yesterday (11) by officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption at the Karthivu Police Station in the Ampara Division.

This was on the charge of demanding a bribe of Rs. 10,000 to retu the income certificate of a businessman in the Saindamarudu area without filing a case.

It is reported that the suspect was arrested at the Karthivu Police Station's charge sheet based on a complaint by the businessman.

The arrested suspect is scheduled to be produced before the Samanthurai Magistrate's Court.
