A police sergeant attached to the Gokarella Police Station has been suspended.

This was in connection with an assault he committed during an argument with a person on the 24th.

A video clip showing the police officer in question committing an assault is circulating on social media.

It has been revealed that the incident occurred during an argument between a man and a woman who were speeding on a motorcycle on the Ibbagamuwa-Madagalla road in the Gokarella Police Division when police officers went to check them.
